Заказали пару серверов HP BL660c Gen8 и топовые процессоры Intel Xeon E5-4657Lv2. В итоге все это дело не захотело заводиться и выпадало в ошибку без каких либо признаков жизнеспособности и картинке на экране. После долгих мучений у нас так ничего и не получилось и мы обратили в сервисный центр HP, где нам сказали что материнская плата с нашим парт-номером не поддерживает v2 Ivy Bridge процессоры. Сделали заказ сервера с необходимым парт-номером, прождали почти месяц, но продавец на ebay обманул нас и в итоге приехал сервер с другим PN, на нем все так же не завелись эти процессоры.
Но после продолжительного «гугления», на просторах интернет, я наткнулся на мануал и прошивку для Gen8 серверов, которая активирует поддержку v2 процессоров.
В статье ссылка на прошивку и мануал на английском языке, там все очень просто и доходчиво.
Не большая ремарка перед статьей. Я обновлялся через подмантированный ISO образ в iLO, через флешку у меня не захотел загружаться, но если у вас нету стабильного коннекта между сервером и вашим ПК я крайне не рекомендую так делать.

Certain ProLiant Gen8 servers now support upgrading the processor type from an Intel Xeon Processor E5-2600 to an Intel Xeon Processor E5-2600 v2 or an Intel Xeon Processor E5-2400 to an Intel Xeon Processor E5-2400 v2 or an Intel Xeon Processor E5-4600 to an Intel Xeon Processor E5-4600 v2.
If the server platform is not listed in this advisory, then the upgrade is not supported and should not be attempted.
Do not attempt to upgrade the processor without following the instructions detailed in the Resolution section of this advisory.
Refer to the «Platform Specific Information» section in the Resolution of this advisory for more specific information on upgrades for specific ProLiant servers.
Only the ProLiant Gen8 servers detailed below can be upgraded from an Intel Xeon Processor E5-2600 to an Intel Xeon Processor E5-2600 v2 or an Intel Xeon Processor E5-2400 to an Intel Xeon Processor E5-2400 v2 or an Intel Xeon Processor E5-4600 to an Intel Xeon Processor E5-4600 v2 using the self-upgrade procedure described in this document.
Any of the following ProLiant Gen8 servers attempting an upgrade from an Intel Xeon Processor E5-2600 to an Intel Xeon Processor E5-2600 v2:

Any of the following ProLiant Gen8 servers attempting an upgrade from an Intel Xeon Processor E5-4600 to an Intel Xeon Processor E5-4600 v2:
Note: Refer to the respective server QuickSpecs for E5-2600 v2 or E5-2400 v2 or E5-4600 v2 processor Option Kit SKUs (e.g. -B21 SKUs).
Only the ProLiant Gen8 servers detailed in the Scope section above can be upgraded from an Intel Xeon Processor E5-2600 to an Intel Xeon Processor E5-2600 v2 or an Intel Xeon Processor E5-2400 to an Intel Xeon Processor E5-2400 v2 or an Intel Xeon Processor E5-4600 to an Intel Xeon Processor E5-4600 v2 using the self-upgrade procedure described in this document.
IMPORTANT: If upgrading your ProLiant Gen8 server with new processors for the first time, HP highly recommends that HP Technology Services assists in this upgrade. To engage HP Technology Services to perform the upgrade, contact HP TS Sales (http://www.hp.com/support ) or your local HP Authorized Re-seller, and inquire about the Intel Xeon Processor E5-2600 to E5-2600 v2 or Intel Xeon Processor E5-2400 to E5-2400 v2 or Intel Xeon Processor E5-4600 to E5-4600 v2 Upgrade Service for HP ProLiant Servers. The service will be delivered under a Time & Material basis.
The bootable media update detailed below is the only method HP supports for performing this self-upgrade.
CAUTION: This Customer Advisory should be read in its entirety before attempting an upgrade. Failure to follow the instructions in their entirety may result in permanent damage to your systems, which will prevent the server from booting, and may void the warranty and/or support coverage for your systems. This upgrade process is different from traditional upgrade methods. If you choose to proceed with the self-upgrade option without using the HP supported bootable media, you do so at your own risk.
The self-upgrade package can be downloaded from the following URL:
Before beginning the upgrade process, the server to be upgraded must have Intel Xeon E5-2600 or Intel Xeon E5-2400 or Intel Xeon E5-4600 processor (s) installed. The Intel Xeon E5-2600 v2 or Intel Xeon E5-2400 v2 or Intel Xeon E5-4600 v2 processor will not be installed until the end of the upgrade process. See below for detailed instructions.
Some server options may not be supported with an E5-2600 v2 or E5-2400 v2 or E5-4600 v2 processor. Check your server QuickSpecs to ensure compatibility with the E5-2600 v2 or E5-2400 v2 or E5-4600 v2 processor.
The self-upgrade package is delivered as an ISO file. Choose one of the following HP-supported upgrade options:
Upgrade OPTION 1: Burn the ISO file to optical media (CD or DVD) and boot the optical media.
Upgrade OPTION 2: Mount the ISO file as an iLO virtual drive and boot the virtual drive.
Upgrade OPTION 3: Create a bootable USB key image on Windows (a) or Linux (b) and boot from it. This method will ERASE ALL CONTENTS of the USB key.
a. To create the bootable USB key on a computer running Microsoft Windows, burn the ISO image to optical media and then run the file hpsubkey.exe in the \usb\hpusbkey directory. Follow the program’s instructions to create a bootable USB key. It will only work when using optical media as a source not directly with the ISO file.
b. To create the bootable USB key on a computer running Linux, run the included script /mkusbkey.sh and pass it the USB device you would like to use. Assuming the USB key is at /dev/sdx, type:
> sudo ./mkusbkey.sh /dev/sdx
NOTE: This script will ERASE ALL CONTENTS of the USB key.
Insert the USB key on the system you wish to upgrade and boot the system off this media.
After starting the upgrade program, the program will display «Press ENTER to start the upgrade process.» If no key is pressed within 10 seconds, the upgrade process will begin automatically. If you type «noprompt» at this time, then the process will not require additional interaction and will reboot when the program has completed, regardless of whether the update is successful. See the section «Automating Updates» below for additional instructions on how to automate the upgrade process.
WARNING: The upgrade process CANNOT be interrupted or permanent system damage can occur!
The upgrade process may take as long as 10-12 minutes to complete. The upgrade process is not complete until you see an «UPDATE PROCESS RESULT» message displayed. During the upgrade process, you will see flash components running but there will be no status displayed of the flash process itself.
Press ENTER to begin the upgrade process or wait 10 seconds and the process will begin automatically.
IF THE UPDATE PROCESS IS SUCCESSFUL:
If the text «UPDATE PROCESS RESULT: SUCCESS» is displayed, the process was successful and the program will display, «Press [ENTER] to reboot». Pressing [ENTER] will restart the system.
After the system has restarted, the firmware updates will be complete and you should shut the system down, remove power (unplug) the system, and follow the instructions in the processor option kit to replace the Intel Xeon Processor E5-2600 with an Intel Xeon Processor E5-2600 v2 or Intel Xeon Processor E5-2400 with an Intel Xeon Processor E5-2400 v2 or Intel Xeon Processor E5-4600 with an Intel Xeon Processor E5-4600 v2.
After successfully performing this update process, please follow your normal update process to ensure that your system has the latest HP software and firmware available.
If the Intel Xeon Processor E5-2600 v2 server is downgraded to a System ROM revision earlier than 09/08/2013, the system will no longer boot with an Intel Xeon Processor E5-2600 v2 installed.
If the Intel Xeon Processor E5-2600 v2 server has LRDIMMs installed and the System ROM is downgraded to a revision earlier than 09/18/2013, the server will no longer boot.
If the Intel Xeon Processor E5-2400 v2 server is downgraded to a System ROM revision earlier than 11/12/2013, the system will no longer boot with an Intel Xeon Processor E5-2400 v2 installed.
If the Intel Xeon Processor E5-4600 v2 server is downgraded to a System ROM revision earlier than 12/20/2013, the system will no longer boot with an Intel Xeon Processor E5-4600 v2 installed.
The upgrade process is now complete.
IF THE UPDATE PROCESS FAILS:
If the message, «UPDATE PROCESS RESULT: FAIL» is displayed, then the update process has failed and the following text will appear:
UPDATE PROCESS RESULT: FAIL
Flash process FAILED PLEASE, REBOOT AND TRY AGAIN
If you continue to have problems please contact HP support.

Press ENTER or R to reboot the system, L to view the log file for detailed information on the flash status, or F to view debug information.
NOTE: If the upgrade process is not successful after two attempts, please contact HP for support.
On USB key updates, the update process can be automated by adding the kernel parameter «noprompt.»

NOTE: The system will reboot when the upgrade completes regardless of whether the upgrade was successful or not. Please see the section below «Saving log files during automatic updates» for instructions on how to save the log files for later review.
Saving Log Files During Automatic Updates
The log files can be saved during an automatic update or when updating multiple machines by adding the kernel parameter logurl:
When the logurl parameter is provided, the update process will perform an HTTP post to the provided URL. The logs can be examined on a webserver at a later time.
See scripts/save_logs.php as an example.
